What Is an AVO?
An Apprehended Violence Order is a court-issued order under the Crimes (Domestic and Personal Violence) Act 2007 (NSW) that prohibits a person from engaging in behaviours that cause another person to fear for their safety. There are two types: An Apprehended Domestic Violence Order (ADVO), applied to parties in a domestic relationship, and an Apprehended Personal Violence Order (APVO), covering situations involving neighbours, colleagues, or strangers.
